Golfers welcome interested learner players to join them

Lady golfers conducted a ‘learners day’ on the Cobar course on Saturday but with a number of interested learners unavaila-ble to attend, another learners day is scheduled to be held later in the year.
Glenda Peebles was the Stableford winner from Saturday’s game after finishing with 33 points.
A three-way countback was then needed to separate Barb Barklimore, Susan Goonrey and Ann Dunn after each scored 32 points.
Nearest the Pin winners on the 3rd hole were Fay Hardwick for A Grade, Ann Dunn in B Grade and ‘learner’ Nadine McLeod picked up the C Grade pin.
Marlene Wynd had a comfortable win in last Wednesday’s Par round posting a score of -1.
Robynne Morton was the runner-up with -4 while Ann Dunn finished in third spot with -6.
Julie Livingston and Marlene Wynd were closest to the flag on the 7th hole.
The slight drizzle of rain on Sunday kept the dust down for the eight players taking part in the Vet’s Mabel McKenzie Brooch event.
The Division 1 winner from the day was Narelle Kriz, with Robynne Morton finishing out in front in Division 2 and Division 3 went to Ann Dunn.
The senior Vet winner on the day was Fay Hardwick.
A ball competition was played in conjunc-tion with the Vet’s game and finished as a comfortable win for Ann Dunn on 73 net.
Narelle Kriz claimed second position with 76 net followed by Susan Goonrey (79) and Robynne Morton finished with 80 net to round out the top placings.
Geraldine Francisco and Karen Manns were the Nearest the Pin winners on the 8th hole.
A Stableford round is set down for today with a Par to be played on Saturday, the last of the daylight savings games.
After the extra hour of sleep on Saturday night, golfers should be refreshed for a Sta-bleford game on Sunday.—T’d Off
