Travelling as the crow flies

Travelling with this year’s Variety Bash, which overnighted in Cobar on Monday, are
The Black Crows (David Brown from Valentine and Toney Pearce from Redhead) in
their 1973 Rover 3500. The pair are old hands on the Bash as it’s David’s 11th year
and Tony’s 10th trip. By means of “graft, corruption and bribery” the boys had
secured pole position when the Bash headed off yesterday morning from Tom Knight
Memorial Oval. The pair travel “as the crow flies” which should be hard for the 300
other participants to catch them. Before they left, the Variety Club made a $2,500
donation to the Cobar Camels Rugby Union Club for equipment and also donated a
coffee machine to Cobar Junior Rugby League.
