With the first round of the new Junior Touch competition having to be rescheduled due to wet weather, a double header was played for both the junior and senior games in Round 2 last Thursday.
New teams have been formed for the new season and organisers were again pleased with great player numbers that have registered this season in both age groups.
In the first Juniors game Orange defeated the Red Devils by one try in what was a very tight contest.
Jaxon Waugh was a standout in the game scoring three tries.
He was well supported by Clair Cousins in attack while Lila Armstrong was dominant for Red scoring a quality try along with team mate Ryder Anderson who defended well all game.
The Red Devils regrouped for their second game to record a 5-2 win over Blue Thunder.
Gabriel Harris scored the try of the round with a great sidestepping run through the defensive line to run away and score.
Talas Burke and Charlie Nicholson both had strong games.
The Yellow Jackets recorded both a win and a loss in their games last week with Kai McCosker and Mason King their dominant players in attack.
It was the girls who impressed the referees for Orange with Harpa Martin and Piper Allen both scoring quality tries.
In the Senior’s competition Marlins picked up two wins in their two games.
The Marlins were well served by their older players Tommy Rogers and Zac Broughton, both by scoring tries and supporting the newer players.
RND’s defeated the Green Beans 6-4 in their Round 2 match up last week with Zane Taylor and Megan Guirin rewarded with Best & Fairest points along with Sosie Barton.
Newcomer Harry Cousins will be a player to watch over the season with his fast running and quick play the ball skills.
Afta Midnights recorded a loss and also a draw (with Green Beans) in their double header draw.
Toby Greenwood, Axel Fairfull and Sarah Morley were identified by the referees as all displaying great sportsmanship.
In tomorrow’s games for the Juniors, Red Devils will meet Yellow Jackets and Blue Thunder come up against Orange in their match.
For the Seniors, Green Beans will take on the Marlins and the RND’s play Afta Midnight. —contributed
