Central North Police District officers stopped a white van at a local service station on Monday afternoon believed to be carrying the alleged proceeds of a home invasion in South Australia.

A 35 year old man was arrested at around 3pm and conveyed to Cobar Police Station.

He appeared at Cobar Local Court yesterday.

Police allege that a search of the vehicle located items from a break and enter offence that occurred around 1am on Monday at Yorketown (SA) where a 74 year old man was allegedly assaulted by three armed men who broke into his home.

Broken Hill Highway Patrol had stopped another white van on the Barrier Highway earlier on Monday where they located 14 firearms, a semi-automatic loaded shotgun, a large quantity of collectable coins and cash and had linked the items to the break and enter.

The 49 year old driver was arrested by police and charged with 18 offences while his passenger ran off from police.
