The Cobar Roosterettes blew away the Binnaway Bombshells on Saturday at Tom Knight Memorial Oval winning their Cas-tlereagh League Tag match, 32-14.
Cobar’s playmaker Brianna Watson was a standout in the Round 13 match opening the scoring for the Roosterettes early.
Watson found a gap in the Binnaway de-fence seven minutes into the game to score.
She then successfully converted her own try to give Cobar an early 6-0 lead.
It was only short-lived when the visitors hit back straight away with a converted try to level the scores at 6-all.
That was however the last time the Bomb-shells were able to match the Roosterettes on the field.
A try by Tyler Chiswick, followed up soon after by a runaway try to Aisha Schofield, converted by Watson, had extended Cobar’s lead to 16-6 by the halftime break.
Soon after the restart, the Bombshells were once again bamboozled by Watson’s pace and quick thinking as she scored her second try of the match.
Watson’s conversion gave Cobar a com-manding 22-6 lead.
Binnaway tried desperately to stay in the game and two second half tries put them in striking distance however the Cobar girls were intent on winning on their home turf.
Schofield scored again, after intercepting a pass and Neve Carter also crossed for the Roosterettes late in the match to see Cobar through to their dominant 32-14 win.
Schofield was named the Roosterettes’ Players’ Player and also collected the team’s Best & Fairest three points for the match.
Two points went to Carter and one point was awarded to Watson.
The Cobar club has a bye in the competi-tion this week for Round 14.
