The Cobar Roosterettes Ladies League Tag team kept their semi final aspirations alive in the Castlereagh League competition with a convincing 38-0 win over the Binnaway Bombshells on Saturday.
The Roosterettes made the eight hours-plus round trip to Binnaway to play the final round of the regular competition needing a good win to ensure they retained their fourth spot on the ladder.
They had just enough players to field a side and all was going well until their captain Zoë Harland came off injured in the 18th minute and didn’t return to the field.
Shortly after the half time re-start Tanya Gilbert spent some time out on the bench when she sustained an injury scoring her second try.
Gilbert however returned to the match after a five minute breather and scored another try.
Her herculean effort earned her Cobar’s Best and Fairest three points.
Gilbert also shared the Players’ Player honour with team mates Jenna Fullagar and Tyler Chiswick. Fullagar collected two Best and Fairest points and Chiswick picked up one point.
Gilbert top scored for the Roosterettes with three tries.
Team mates Bianka Jacobson, Harland, Kasey Egan, Codi Mackay and Chiswick also touched down for the Roosterettes with Harland landing two goals and Peta Woods converted a goal also.
The Cobar side will now meet Gilgandra in the minor semi game in Dunedoo this Saturday.
Cobar beat Gilgandra in their Round 5 encounter, 14-8, back in May, but then Gilgandra turned the tables to win the match 22-16 when the two sides met last month in Round 14.
