The Cobar Roosterettes won a highly entertaining game against the Baradine Magpies on Sunday in Dunedoo in the minor semi final of the Castlereagh Ladies League Tag competition.
The Roosterettes are hitting their straps at the right time of the season and rebounded well from their last encounter with the Magpies in Round 11 where they were beaten
34-16.
The Roosterettes took control of Sunday’s minor semi final after speedster Sophie Clark scored out on the wing and Brianna Watson converted from the sideline. They had a narrow 6-4 lead at the halftime break and went on to maintain the lead for the rest of the game.
Second half tries to Watson and a brilliant single-handed chip chase effort from Peta Woods to score sealed Cobar’s 14-12 win.
The victory keeps Cobar’s premiership hopes alive and will see the Roosterettes play Narromine in front of their home crowd this Saturday at Tom Knight Memorial Oval in the Preliminary Finals.
While the Roosterettes’ track record against Narromine over the season is three from three losses, in each game however the Roosterettes have improved including winning the second half of their last encounter just two weeks ago in the first semi final.
The winner of Saturday’s game will have the honour of meeting Dunedoo in the grand final next week.
The Jets were well beaten by the Dunedoo Swans last Saturday but were without a couple of key players for that match and they will be keen to get another crack at the Swans in the grand final by downing the Roosterettes.
Whatever the outcome, this week’s match is expected to be another entertaining game
