Records take a tumble at CATS’ January Triathlon

Finlay Robinson and Hannah Young set new records in the Long Course of the CATS’ triathlon event at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool on Sunday

The CATS’ (Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad’s) Long Course club records were broken in both the male and female classes of the January Triathlon event on Sunday morning.
Finlay Robinson, who set a new Short Course record for the club on debut in Decem-ber, now holds the Long Course record after his first attempt at that distance on Sunday.
Robinson’s new Long Course record to beat is now 1 hour, 2 minutes and 50 sec-onds, and is more than a minute better than Anthony Wrigley’s previous best time of 1.04.13.
Another first time Long Course competitor, Hannah Young, set a new record time in the female class with Young’s time of 1.10.53 eclipsing Emma Harley’s previous record of 1.15.12.
From the field of 19 competitors, the handi-capped winner of the day was Team Stitch Up with Abby Fairfull completing their swim leg, Corinne McLeod did the ride and improved her previous best time by 10 minutes while Amie Hill bettered her run time by 30 seconds (and with two kids in tow).
Second place went to Axel Fairfull, compet-ing for the first time in the Long Course with Young claiming the third place handicapped title.
