The Pumpettes women’s netball team capped off a sensational year with their third netball grand final win on Monday night.
The team’s winning combination has claimed two Indoor competition titles this year along with their 2018 Cobar Netball Association A Grade grand final win of the outdoor competition in September.
Pumpettes’ opposition on Monday night, the Hot Shots, may have recorded first points in the game, but with only six players for the full match (and some time off for one player with an injury), they never really looked like they could take down the in-form Pumpettes side.
The well-oiled machine that Pumpettes is dominated the whole court and, with extremely accurate shooting from both their shooters, Madasan Taylor and Emma Barton, Pumpettes had taken a comprehensive 16 goals lead by half time.
Hot Shots’ then made a couple of clever positional changes which gave defender Sandie Mitchell (who was named Player of the Grand Final), more opportunities to intercept the ball and helped to give Hot Shots’ main shooter, Alice Flynn, more attempts at goal.
At 8-all, they matched the Pumpettes in points scored that quarter.
Pumpettes however were on a roll and stormed home to win the final quarter (11-6) and take out the match 42-21.
