Unfortunately the women’s golf Pennants match against Trangie was cancelled on Friday due to the soggy conditions on the Cobar course after the rain.
These five matches, to be played in Cobar, will now be rescheduled while the Cobar team will travel to Trangie’s course this Friday.
Last week Wan Sipatsa took out the treble by winning all three games in the program book.
Sipatsa took the flag event to the 19th hole on Wednesday and finished the stroke event with 70 net on a countback from Daphne Cross. Janine Ryan was next with 71 net followed by Geraldine Francisco (73), Sally Bannister and Glenis Prisk (75 net each) and Marlene Wynd with 76 net. Ann Dunn won the putting competition with 23 putts.
Only four ‘brave’ souls took to the course on Saturday to play a Par game in the wet. (So far we hear none are suffering from pneumonia.)
The scores reflected the tough conditions with Sipatsa’s -6 winning the day from Susan Goonrey’s -9. Sipatsa also picked up a nearest the pin prize on the 3rd hole and Geraldine Francisco won the pin on the 11th hole.
The fog lifted on Sunday morning just in time for the start of the first round of Club Championships.
The front-runners going into next week’s round in A Grade are Chrissy Gilligan, Janet Place and Wan Sipatsa; B Grade has Lize Stander in front from Pam Sikora and Ann Dunn while Karen Manns is leading C Grade from Susan Goonrey and Sue Phillips.
An 18 hole ball competition was held on Sunday played in conjunction with the Championships with Wan Sipatsa claiming the hat trick of the week with 71 net. The runner-up was Chrissy Gilligan (77) followed by Karen Manns (78), Lize Stander and Janine Ryan (79 net each), Janet Place and Pam Sikora (83 net each) and Sally Bannister had 84 net.—T’d Off
