festival will again be a successful community event.

The Festival Of The Miner’s Ghost organising committee held a meeting last Thursday at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club to further discuss the plans and activities of this year’s festival.

Representatives from Cobar Shire Council, Cobar Arts Council, Peak Gold Mines and the Market Day committee attended the meeting along with a number of interested members of the public.

Those at the meeting discussed the proposed plans for tours of the cemetery guided by museum curator Kaye Stingemore; markets and music in the park; a Miner’s Ghost themeD party, a Golden Dash fun run for children and the idea of a Colour Fun Run was also floated at the meeting.

Promotion and advertising of the festival was also discussed and it was determined that the best coverage would come from newspaper, radio and television advertising.

To reach a wide audience in the hope of attracting visitors to the town for the festival ads will run on radio stations 2DU, ZooFM and 2WEB and also PRIME TV in addition to local advertising through The Cobar Weekly.

The festival committee will once again run a best decorated shop window competition, with the winner to receive a half page ad in The Cobar Weekly as their prize.
