New Council director’s first impressions were all good

Good first impressions count for a lot and it’s good to know that’s what Cobar Shire Council’s new Director of Corporate and Community Services, Kylie Smith, received on her recent arrival in town.

“I have only been in Cobar for a week and in that time, I have been very impressed by the level of community involvement and can-do attitude,” Ms Smith told The Cobar Weekly.

“The people I have been fortunate to meet are warm and welcoming with a great sense of humor.

“I have been meeting Council staff this week and am so impressed by their commitment to Council and the community and their dedication, going above and beyond.

“Our staff are a group of people with incredible professional skills that are a credit to us all.

“I was also fortunate to attend my first Council meeting this week and was impressed by the passion and knowledge on display from the elected members,” she said.

“I am really looking forward to working with the whole team.”

In her role with Council, Ms Smith’s responsibilities include finance, governance, records and information, IT, Library services, Youth and Community Services, Tourism and Aged Care as well as overseeing the contracts for the caravan park and the pool… full article in this weeks editions out now!
