Cobar High School’s (CHS) Under 14s girls netball team wrote themselves into the school’s history books last week when they won the Ronnie Gibbs Netball Gala Day in Bourke last Wednesday.

The team was outstanding, going through the entire day undefeated and claiming the grand final win with a 10–2 victory over Nyngan.

This marks a historic achievement, as it is the first time in 17 years that Cobar High has won this event.

Also competing at the Ronnie Gibbs Netball and Rugby League 7s Gala Day were CHS  Under 15 boys who combined with Gilgandra High School and also enjoyed great success, finishing the day as champions.

The Cobar Open girls netball team put in a strong performance, recording two wins, one draw, and one loss.

CHS Head Teacher PDHPE Bianka Jacobson said it was a fantastic day of sport, with all students showing great teamwork, determination, and school spirit.

“They were excellent ambassadors for Cobar High School, both on and off the field,” Ms Jacobson said.
