
Cobar High School held their end of year presentations at the school’s MPC on Thursday with Maddie Bruce named as the 2025 Dux of the School.
As this year’s top academic student of the school, Maddie was presented with the Neil Hudson Memorial Honour Roll Cobar High School Dux award.
Among the perpetual award winners were: Denika Brown, who collected the University Of Newcastle Year 12 Award for Academic Excellence; Sophie Bennett (Year 10) and Malina Bottom (Year 12) won the Australian Defence Force Long Tan Youth Leadership & Teamwork Awards.
The AM Burgess Scholarships went to Year 10—Montana Edwards and Year 11—Mia Rogers while the Ellen Knight Memorial CWA Scholarship was earned by Year 12 student Sarah Nicholson
The Student Representative Council Award
for Contribution and Effort went to Malina Bottom.
The JKM Dynamic Fitness Award for Citizenship shown by a Girl was collected by Sosie Barton and Sosie also received the Year 12, 1995 Award for Consistency and Participation.
The Reuben F Scarf Award for Commitment went to Amara Bottom.
The CHS Ex Student Award for Achievement was presented to Isobel Willard.
The Kath Miles Memorial Award for Cooperation and Service went to Pearl Blackburn.
Rhylee Patterson earned the 1988 Year 12 Award as the Best All Rounder in the Junior School while Henry Knight collected the Ampol Award as the Best All Rounder in the Senior School.
The Bill Venner Memorial Award for History was presented to Pearl Blackburn and the Micheal Halliger Memorial Award for Inquiry and Problem Solving In Science, a new award introduced this year to honour the memory of another former teacher, was earned by Chase Milligan.
Principal’s Awards were presented to: Year 7 students Amanat Kaur, Ashlee Compton,
Emma Cain, Lilly Deppeler, Eli Freeman, Rylan Knight, Mark McBride, Hannah Trudgett and Gunner Wicks.
In Year 8, Principal’s Awards were earned by Ronin Chandler, Addison Cull, Ann-Maree Grentell, Mimi Moncy and Sophie Williams.
Principal’s Awards for Year 9 students were collected by Charlotte Knight, Aimee Moncy, Norma Mugugia and Charlotte Orr.
In Year 10, Principal’s Awards went to Sam Cain, Sophie Bennett, Jaina Chandler, Montana Edwards and Chloe Williams.
The Principal’s Awards for Year 11 students were earned by Sosie Barton, Jordan Bain-Meadows, Pearl Blackburn, Sophie Cain, Corban Colling, Maddie Chaplain, Malcolm Gillette, Leslie Hooker, Noah Knight, Sarah Nicholson, Mia Rogers and Rori Urquhart.
Major sporting awards were presented to: Sosie Barton—Anita Salter Nee Winders Memorial Award for Outstanding Participation in Sport; Joshua Francisco—the Paul Cotterill Award for Interest and Participation in Several Sports by a Boy; Alora Deppeler—the Cath Carroll Award for Interest and Participation in Several Sports by a Girl; Jackson Muldoon—the Bruce Mitchell Award for Outstanding Sportsmanship by a Boy—Jackson Muldoon; Rhylee Patterson—the Jan Mitchell Award for Outstanding Sportsmanship by a Girl; and Pearl Blackburn collected the Bill and Chatie Prisk Memorial Award for the Most Outstanding Sportsperson in 2025.
The achievements of students who represented the school at the State Championships, Swimming (Isabelle Gillette and Henry Knight), Cross Country (Pearl Blackburn) and Athletics (Pearl Blackburn, Lauren O’Sullivan and Eligh Ritter) were acknowledged along with athletes who competed at Western Region level.
Individual age champion awards were also presented along with a Chess team award.
