Luke Scales puts his name on Billy Manns Memorial Trophy

Bryan Manns presenting the Billy Manns Memorial Trophy to Luke Scales on Sunday

The annual Billy Manns Memorial Shoot
was contested on Sunday at the Cobar
Clay Target Club in very windy and sunny
conditions which made the competition a
real test of shooters’ skills.
Luke Scales finished as the winner with
Robert Thompson and Damian Wray also in
the running to take the trophy, but it was
Scales that had the edge on the day.
There were 16 shooters competing in the
three event program which included local
shooters, juniors, novices and away visitors.
In the opening event, the 20 Target Double
Barrel, Hank Pritchard and Thompson tied
for first place in AA Grade with a score of
19/20.
There was also a tie in A Grade with Phil
Bruce and Tony Polack, both with 17/20,
finished 1st.
Brad Kendrick was the outright winner in B
Grade with 18/20 and Scales won C Grade,
also with 18/20.
In the 25 Target Single Barrel event,
Thompson won AA Grade with 23/25; Polack
was first in A Grade with 18/25;
Kendrick won B Grade with 16/25 and Scales
was again the C Grade winner with 21/25.
Scales won the final event, the 30 Target
Handicap Billy Manns Memorial with a possible
(perfect score) of 30/30.
Thompson was the runner-up with 27/30
and Wray finished third with 26/30.
