Seven CATS (Cobar Athletics & Triathlon Squad) members recorded personal best (PB) times in Sunday’s triathlon event.

Four members completed the Long Course (500m swim/20km ride/4km run) with Cheryl Lewington recording PBs in her swim and ride legs to record an overall time of 1 hour 23 minutes 29 seconds to finish as the handicapped winner.

Mick Howell was the quickest over the Long Course with 1.08.01 while Zach Finn improved his ride time from his previous PB.

In the Short Course (300m swim/10km ride/2km run) both Axel Fairfull and Greg McKervey recorded PBs in all three legs;  Tommy Bryan improved on his swim and ride times;  Zac Broughton had a quicker swim leg; and Chris Powell improved on his run time to finish with a new PB for the course.

In an effort to bring more people into their sport, the club also held a Try-A-Tri event on Sunday in conjunction with their monthly triathlon.

Try-A-Tri’s are a scaled down version of the club’s Short Course event and aim to give would-be triathletes a gentle introduction to the sport with a 100m swim, 2km ride and 750m run.

Milla Davey was the only competitor who took up the challenge and she completed the course in a good time of 19 minutes 45 seconds.
