Locals put up a good fight

The Cobar Shed Boxing Club members put on a good night of amateur boxing entertainment at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club on Saturday night for the 2015 Fight Night.

Local fighter Carol Smith picked up the NSW Country women’s Welterweight title after outclassing her opponent Lana Plews.

Smith won on a first round TKO (technical knock out—which happens when the referee decides the fight cannot continue safely).

Another local Bryan Sylvester won his bout by decision to claim the NSW State Cruiser Weight title belt.

He won his match against Daniel Parkinson.

Zac Smith came up against a more experienced opponent in Ryan Ferrer and the fight was called due to injury in the first round.

Chris Deighton put on a crowd pleasing display in his match against Aaron Simmonds which Simmonds eventually won by decision.

Jason White showed he can fight and won by unanimous decision against his more experienced opponent Jessy Blakemore.

Jacob Smith was another of the Shed Boxing Club members who won his bout via decision against Trent Guihot. A big crowd was on hand to witness the action.
