The first WISER (Women in Sustainable Energy & Resources) event was held in Cobar on Thursday at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club. The Sundowner event, organised by Aurelia Metals FIFO worker Joanne Feltham, attracted 20 women from a cross section of the local mines who were eager to find out what WISER is trying to achieve for women in energy and mining across the country. WISER Chair Joanne Bergamin, was one of the event speakers and said she was thrilled with the turn out. She said the group “fired a lot of questions” at them! “More importantly, they are keen to get involved in forming a local committee, joining WISER’s Women On Boards program, and planning some local events to build on the connections established at this event” Ms Bergamin said. She said it had proved to be a great networking opportunity for the group who were all excitedly looking forward to the next event. Photo contributed
