The Cobar Lady Golfers 2020 season will get underway with an Open Day free Stableford event on Sunday.
This year’s program book is packed full of events right through to the end of November to challenge all players including learner days for those interested in taking up golf.
Cobar lady golfers will once again be hosting the Western Districts Rose Bowl tournament on July 18 and 19 and it’s sure to be a huge weekend with players from towns from all over the west taking part.
Hard to beat on home soil, the Cobar contingent will be out in force in an effort to keep the trophy in town.
While the local course has suffered greatly with the effects of the drought, last weekend’s 28mm of rain will boost whatever hardy bits of grass are left on the fairways and hopefully follow up rain will have the course looking green once again.
After the tank on the second fairway had dried up the men’s golf committee had it dredged and now we wait for it to fill allowing for a decent water catchment area for the course when needed.
Today and Saturday, if the weather stays cool, Ladies Golf summer competition organiser, Ann Dunn will be calling on players for the last of the summer competition nine hole games. While numbers were a bit low due to the heat during the summer break, the games played were enjoyed by all participants.—T’d Off
