The Cobar Clay Target Club held their annual Beryl Jones Memorial Shoot on Sunday with Skeet and Down The Line events contested.

Brad Kendrick won the Beryl Jones Memorial Trophy after displaying great concentration and determination throughout the day.

It was a great tussle at the end between John Polack and Kendrick, with the pair shooting off late into the dim light of dusk.

Kendrick eventually won with a great score of 35/36 while Polack was just behind with 34/36.

There was a great turnout of shooters, enough for five squads, which equated to 23 shooters, and included four competitors from Bourke and others from Warren, Hermidale and Sydney.

Blake Dunne won the Front Marker C Grade trophy with a score of 28/30.

The first event of the day was Skeet, which gave shooters a bit of fun and showed them a new element of shooting.

The winners of the 20 Target Double Barrel event were: C Grade—Dunne 18/20, B Grade—Kendrick 20/20, A Grade – Equal 1st Mark Kolstad and Douglas Ferguson 20/20, AA Grade—Equal 1st Kevin Hatch and James Manns 20/20.

In the 30 Target Single Barrel event, the winners were: C Grade—Dunne 24/30, B Grade—Kendrick 26/30, A Grade – Equal 1st Garry Jones and Tony Holzigal 28/30, AA Grade—Rob Thompson 25/30.

The Ping Pong event was eagerly awaited, and John Polack was the lucky shooter to be drawn. At 19 metres, he was all over it, finishing with a score of 5/5.

The Jones family put on a scrumptious barbecue and afternoon tea.

The 41st Golden Clay Shoot will be held next month.—contributed
