Tanya Gilbert and Bianka Jacobson continued to fight it out in the pool on Sunday night for Mermaids’ championship points.
The senior women’s swimming club championship point score front runners both collected a swag of points on Sunday with Gilbert adding another 16 to her total and Jacobson finished the night with a total of 15.
Gilbert won the 100 metres freestyle handicapped event with a time of 0.12 seconds off her nominated time. Jacobson was second (0.43) and Makaila Gordon was third (1.32).
Jacobson won the 30m event with a time of 0.50 seconds off her nominated time.
Gilbert was second (1.19) and Gordon finished in third place.
Alex Eves grabbed the winner’s points in the 50m event after she swam to within 0.34 seconds of her nominated time. Gilbert was second (0.50) and Jacobson followed with 1.10 seconds to finish in third place.
It was the Mermaids last swim of the year with the club to take a short break for Christmas.
The competition will resume in January.
