The Cobar Clay Target Club held their annual Beryl Jones Memorial Shoot on Sunday at the club grounds but there was no winner of the trophy after the event was washed out due to heavy rain and hail.

The morning started out with a skeet shoot novelty event which attracted a group of 15 shooters competing in very windy and cold conditions.

A field of 21 shooters started the memorial shoot however, with hail adding to the already trying conditions, the event was called off and has been postponed to September.

In other club news, a group of 13 local shooters competed at the Western Zone competition in Moree last weekend.

Rob Thompson won the single barrel event on the day and, along with Matt Schiller, won a spot in the Western Zone Open Men’s Team of five shooters.

Ross Morris also qualified for the Western Zone Veterans Team and Kate Schiller earned herself one of the three spots in the Western Zone Ladies Team.

The teams will go on to represent the Western Zone at the State Down-The-Line competition at Wagga Wagga in October.
