The 2026 Golfie Bowls Fours Champions were decided on the greens on Saturday morning with Craig ‘Duck’ Grimmond expertly skippering his team of Bian Smith, Tony Polack and Gerard Livingston to a 10 point victory.
Their opposition of Geoff Smith, Darryl ‘Dasha’ Jermyn, Tony Brown and Peter ‘Skeet’ Goonrey made a good start to Saturday’s game however it was short-lived after Duck’s side took control mid match.
Duck’s men held the mat for five consecutive ends, during which they scored a six shot win on one end, along with two four shot wins, and then just kept on adding to their mounting tally.
Skeet’s side tried to stay in the game but Duck’s team were already on the home straight and rubbed in more salt to their opposition’s wounds when they won the final three ends to claim a 29-19 victory and the 2027 Fours title.
A semi final match was played in the Pairs competition on Sunday with Tony Polack and David ‘Ooze’ Knight finishing as comfortable nine point winners over Peter ‘Skeet’ Goonrey and Tony Brown.
After just four ends, Polack and Knight had raced away to a 10 shot lead.
Skeet and Brown slowly chipped away at the deficit and, despite winning 11 of the 21 ends played, they were never able to recover from the fast start made by Polack and Knight.
