Golf Club snatches first round win

Eye on the ball: Golf Club batsman Josh Brown (and Nymagee wicket keeper Roger Mitchell) both had their eyes on the ball in the opening match of the new 40 Overs
competition on Saturday at Ward Oval. Brown top scored in the match with a knock of 50 which helped Golf Club to a six run win.

The Golf Club and Nymagee cricket teams called on a couple of junior players to help them field sides for the opening round of their 40 Overs cricket match at Ward Oval on Saturday.

And it was the juniors who determined the final outcome of the game.

Golfie batted first and finished with reasonable figures of 10/106 with Josh Brown 50 and Rob Childs (33) their big hitters.

Bowling for Nymagee, Tony Polack claimed a hat trick with figures of 4/20 while Golf Club’s Rob Childs also collected four wickets and conceded just 14 runs from his eight over bowling spell.

Nymagee needed just eight runs from five overs with two wickets in hand and had their junior players at the crease.

They faced Golf Club’s junior bowlers with Jack Fazulla responsible for the last two wickets. Nymagee fell short of the target to finish with 10/100.
