The final of the Golfie Bowls Fours Championships was played on Monday at the club and was hands-down the best lawn bowls match played on the greens this year.

The ‘Young Guns’ team of Jay Egan, Paul Kershaw, Mark ‘George’ Fraser and Alec Fraser finished as thrilling +2 winners!

They accounted for their opposition of Tom Overend, Barry Bargwanna, Michael Sargent and Don Roberts.

It was a great game with the decider coming right down to the last two ends.

The lead see-sawed a couple of times and at the end of the 10th end it was anyone’s game with Team Fraser 11-10 in front of Team Roberts.

Team Fraser then held the mat for the next four ends before Team Roberts started to play their way back into the match.

Team Fraser however kept chipping away at the scoreboard.

On the final end, and with the momentum in their favour, Team Roberts needed six to win, but alas they only managed to claim four shots and the Young Guns took the win.

Saturday’s Social Bowls had enough players for a game of Pairs and one of Triples.

The day’s winners with +8 were Mick McManus, Paul Kershaw and Greg Clark who won over David ‘Ooze’ Knight, David Kershaw and Karen Daly.

In the other game John ‘Shark’ Daly and Allan Gardoll drew with Doug Hudson and Mick Harvey.

Sunday’s Social Bowls’ winners were Gerard Livingston and Darryl ‘Dasha’ Jermyn who had a big +20 victory against Doug Hudson and Allan Gardoll.

Peter ‘Skeet’ Goonrey and David ‘Ooze’ Knight were winners in their game against Tony Polack and Karen Daly by another big margin of +15, and Mick McManus and David Thomas won their match by +6 over John ‘Shark’ Daly and Cole Bunting.
