CWA elects a new committee but stills needs a secretary

The Cobar CWA managed to elect a new committee at their second attempt at holding an annual general meeting on Saturday. Pictured above are members (including a couple of new members) who attended.

A second attempt at holding their annual general meeting has resulted in the Cobar branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) electing a new committee.

All positions were filled apart from the secretary’s role which remains vacant.

Colleen Boucher was returned as the group’s president with Lillian Simpson and Jean Poulter elected to the vice presidents role.

Nalda Talbot was returned to the treasurer’s position.

In her president’s report for 2025, Mrs Boucher said over the year the group had accomplished a number of fruitful outcomes.

She said the purchase of a Square reader helped to increase their takings at this year’s Cobar Show; they also unveiled their new CWA Banner (handmade by Nalda Talbot) at this year’s Cobar Show; the branch will be presenting $200 scholarships to two Year 11 Cobar High School students; Cobar has supported the Far Western Group competitions with entries of sewing, knitting, craft and cookery items; the branch held a successful Awareness Week event and also supported the Nymagee CWA Branch’s Flower Show.

Mrs Boucher reported Cobar Primary School students also did exceptionally well in the Far Western Group CWA Public Speaking Competition.

The branch is now planning how they will mark their 100 years milestone anniversary next year.

Mrs Boucher said a few past members have been gathering information, photos and memorabilia and sending to the branch which will feature in their 100 years display.
