CSA claims their second successive soccer souvenir

The CSA Mixed Indoor Soccer team finished as thrilling 6-3 winners in last Wednesday night’s grand final at the youth centre.

CSA won their second successive Mixed Indoor Soccer grand final after defeating Two Left Feet 6-3 in a fast paced game last Wednesday night at the youth centre.

The final score mirrored last season’s grand final with CSA once again coming out on top.

Two Left Feet had been the firm favourites going into last week’s match, having previously beaten CSA 3-0 in their semi final.

The match was played at a quick pace with CSA’s Tony Walkinshaw booting one into the net and teammate Sarah Barber also scored.

Two Left Feet also scored two first half goals with Jade Buckman finding the back of the net twice.

With female goals worth double points, Barber’s goal had given CSA a slight 3-2 advantage at half time.

After a well earned break, Two Left Feet regrouped with Tadhg McMullen scoring an early goal after the re-start to level the score at 3-all.

CSA’s Brendan Willard retaliated minutes later for his team to take back the lead at 4-3.

With the clock counting down, both teams were desperately trying to get the ball to their respective ends and into the net.

With just six minutes left to play, Walkinshaw netted his second for the match to give his side a two points breathing space.

Two Left Feet fought to the end but had run out of puff and with just over a minute left on the clock, CSA’s Ivan Arcayo drilled the ball into the back of the net (and the nail into the coffin) to see CSA through to the thrilling 6-3 win.

CSA’s Jack Renton was named the Player of the Grand Final.

The end of season presentations followed Wednesday night’s game with Goal Diggers’ Greg McKervey named the Male Best and Fairest Player. His team mates Michela Cartner and Kylie Scales were the joint Female Best and Fairest winners.

Two Left Feet’s Georgie Buckman and MCHU’s Shannon Purton were the joint highest female goal scorers of the season and  MCHU’s Ben Turton was the highest scoring male player this season.
