Council welcomes a new asset manager and an engineer

Cobar Shire Council has recently welcomed two new staff members with Brett Richards taking on the role of Asset and Facilities Manager and Niduku Wijewickrama is Council’s new Water & Sewer Engineer.

Brett is tasked with compiling and registering a comprehensive list of all council assets, developing an Asset Management Plan detailing life cycle, planned/preventative maintenance and a replacement plan and the Fleet Management of all council plant equipment which entails planned/scheduled maintenance, life cycle planning/budgeting and a replacement regime.

“I’ve recently returned from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, where I did a three-year stint at the Australian High Commission where I held a similar position,” Brett said.

“This also entailed supervising and mentoring local staff members.

“Prior to that I held a Facilities position at BlueScope Steel in Hastings, Victoria for nine and a half years.”
