Cobar Public School’s (CPS) Sports Person of the Year was named at the school’s end of year awards ceremony at the Cobar Bowling & Golf Club last Tuesday with Ben Griffiths receiving the top honour.
Raymond Jones collected the CPS and Robinson Family Award for Excellence in Sporting Achievement in 2015.
Among other sporting awards handed out on the day were: State Representative Cross Country— Chad Buckman; State Representative Swimming—Raymond Jones; State Representative Soccer/Football—Ben Griffiths; State Representative Athletics—Jacob Gilbert.
Cobar Public School NSW Premier’s Sporting Challenge Award For Overall Contribution to School Sport Yrs 3-6 went to Zane Taylor; CPS and Cobar Judo Club Award for Consistently Displaying Good Sportsmanship—James Cremona, Braiden Jones and Bridie Bruce; CPS and Cobar AECG Award for Recognition of an Indigenous Student’s Achievement in Sport—Dakota Connelly and Tarnia McCormack.
The school’s Cross Country champions were: Senior—Sami Gosper and Josh Scott; 11yrs—Katie Coveney and Chad Buckman; Junior—Zahlia Graham and Jaydon Coveney.
The Athletics champions were: Senior—Cassidi Lawrence and Ben Griffiths; 11yrs—Tarnia McCormack and Ryley Morley; Junior—Zahlia Graham and Jacob Gilbert.
The school’s Swimming champions for 2015 were: Senior—Sami Gosper and Ben Griffiths; 11yrs—Hannah Kelly and Raymond Jones; Junior—Neve Carter and Clancy Harvey.
