A new season of the Mermaids swimming club competition commenced on Sunday morning at the Cobar Memorial Swimming Pool.
There was a small field of just five swimmers with Nikki Davey the winner of the first event, the 30m handicapped freestyle swim.
Davey won with a time of 0.06 seconds off her nominated time with Cheryl Lewington second on 0.19 and Tanya Gilbert was narrowly back in third place on 0.22.
Lewington’s repeat 0.19 time in the 50m event won her first place in front of Davey (0.34) and Anita Hodgkinson was third on (0.72).
Gilbert finished well ahead of the rest of a tiring field in the 100m swim.
She came home within 1.97 seconds of her nominated time with Lewington second on 5.97 seconds and well back in third place was Hodgkinson on 10.47.
