Three Cobar High School riders, Zac Boland, Katie Nicholson and Lila Armstrong, represented the school at the North West Equestrian Expo in Coonabarabran last week.
The Expo is the largest High School equestrian event in Australia.
This year marks the 31st staging of the competition with over 500 riders and horses competing in an array of disciplines.
During the five days of competition, 100 schools were represented from across NSW with ring events, dressage, showjumping, barrels, penning and polocrosse among the 15 disciplines on offer.
It was a great experience for all students that attended.
This is the third consecutive year that Cobar High School has been represented at the event and this year’s little team of three provided great support to each other.
Lila won her Dressage round, placed 3rd in Combined Training and finished as the Reserve Champion in the Hacking ring.
Zac came away with Reserve Champion in his 105cm Show Jumping class.
Katie finished out of the top placings but had a great time competing in all her sporting events.
The Grand Parade was an impressive finale to the Expo experience with horses and students parading around the grounds while being judged for the Best Presented School.
This year Cobar High School took out ‘Best Presented Small School’ with the students thrilled to receive the award.—contributed
