Christmas cheer in Cobar

Cobar’s Christmas Street Parade is a much anticipated annual event and last Thursday night’s parade didn’t disappoint.
Community and sporting groups, along with a few businesses, spent countless hours getting their floats ready for this year’s
parade. The judges couldn’t go past the Outback Styles ‘Crashed Santa’s Sleigh’ float for it’s colourfulness and originality to collect the ‘Margaret’s Choice Best in Parade’ trophy and the $200 Cobar Quids prize (it’s reported work on the float began back in June!). Parade Community Spirit awards also went to the Cobar Auto Club and Cobar Roosters Junior Rugby League Club entries who picked up $50 Cobar Quids each. Santa had the honour of leading this year’s big parade which featured a wide range of church, school, sporting and community groups along with the Dustbowl Fuel Burners car club, the Fergie Tractors club and Cobar’s very noisy emergency services vehicle.  See more photos in our gallery here
