Cadets finish the year with a formal

The Cobar 221 Army Cadet Unit ended the year with a formal Dining In military
ceremony at the Services Club on Saturday. In addition to dinner, awards were handed
out to this year’s best performing cadets

Dining In night on Saturday at the Services
Club with end of year awards handed out.
The unit’s commanding officer, Captain
Colleen Boucher (AAC), said it had been a
difficult time for cadets with no face-to-face
training allowed due to COVID restrictions.
“This group of young people adapted and
overcame the Covid lockdown by taking training
to the zoom platform.
“They can all be commended for the way
they conducted themselves over this time,”
Captain Boucher said.
The Attendance Award was earned by
(Cadet Corporal) CDTCPL Amara Bottom;
the Boucher Shield as the Highest Overall
Achiever went to CDTCPL Braiden Jones; the
Trained Soldier Award for the unit’s cadet
who is a standout in all areas of training was
presented to (Cadet) CDT Tiana Jones; the
Encouragement Award went to Cadet Lieutenant
Corporal Reagan Traynor; and the Greenie
Award for a cadet who is always there to help
others went to CDTCPL Riley ‘Red’ Bottom.
A certificate of appreciation was presented
to Battalion Cadet Under Officer Brooklynn
Mackay for her support of the 221 Army Cadet
Unit Cobar in her final year of cadets before
she leaves Cobar to further her career.
