The Cobar Business Association welcomed some new faces to their annual general meeting last week, three of which have joined the new committee.
Rachael Hadkins was welcomed as the group’s new treasurer along with new general committee members Ellie Russell and Chris Lehmann.
Sharon Harland was returned as the group’s president with Chris Higgins stepping up into the vice president’s role and Angela Shepherd was returned as the group’s secretary.
After relinquishing the treasurer’s role, Miranda Riley was returned to the general committee and has also taken on the job as this year’s Christmas Parade coordinator.
In her president’s report Mrs Harland said while there had been a number of achievements made by the association in the past year, it had been a tough year, in particular for the executive which for most of the year, had just four members doing the bulk of the work.
“Along with the Cobar community, our committee members were all deeply affected by the tragic death of our vice president Margaret Settree last December.”
She said over the past year the Association took part in the Festival of the Miner’s Ghost; organised the 2014 Christmas Gala Shopping Night and Street Parade (which was a huge success); held two brain storming sessions to come up with ideas; ran an Excel short training course; presented the 2015 Great Cobar Business Awards; and were currently working with Cobar High School on a mock interview project.
“I praise our hard working executive and would like to invite more members to join the new 2015/2016 executive to ensure the good work of this association continues,” Mrs Harland said.
