The local Twenty20 senior cricket compe-tition has resumed with Bushies and Tooth-less picking up wins in close encounters in their matches over the weekend.
Friday and Saturday nights’ games were played on the same pitch at Ward Oval which was very lively after the storm on Thursday night and, with the usually slow outfield, 110 runs was a par score.
In Friday night’s game, Hombres won the toss and elected to bat first against the Bush-ies.
Hombres made 7/106 from their 20 overs with opener Slade Neale top scoring with 42 runs, Jake Harbison finished with 22 not out and Jay Egan added 20 to their total.
For Bushies, their main bowlers Tom McKenna and Jade Buckman took three wick-ets each with McKenna conceding just 14 runs and Buckman 18.
In reply, Bushies chased down the required total but they only managed it on the second last ball of the match to finish with 5/107.
McKenna top scored with 45 runs and Jade Buckman chipped in with 28 runs.
Jay Egan was the pick of Hombres’ bowlers taking three wickets for just three runs off three overs.
In the other match contested on Saturday night, Toothless defeated Tilpa by eight runs.
Toothless won the toss and elected to bat first.
They made 6/112 from their 20 overs with an inning of 37 runs off 25 balls from Jed Noonan proving to be the difference in the end.
Ben Griffiths finished with 23 not out and Ryan Urquhart and Tristan Everett scored 15 runs each.
For Tilpa, Jade Buckman (from Bushies helping Tilpa make up the numbers) took three wickets for four runs.
In reply, Tilpa finished 6/104 from their 20 overs.
Tarun Bheemireddy top scored with 29 runs, Jade Buckman scored 22 runs and Jake Harbi-son (a Hombres player also helping Tilpa out), finished on 12 not out.
