Cricket returned to Cobar on the weekend with the 2019/20 season getting underway with Nymagee hosting Golf Club in the 40 Over competition.

A maiden century from Josh Brown set up a confidence-boosting win for Golf Club.

Golf Club had won the toss and elected to bat and, after losing three early wickets, Brown and Ahmed Pulock (56 runs) shared in a 143-run partnership to help Golf Chub get to 245 from their 40 overs.

Brown finished 119 not out. Mark Fraser was the best of the Nymagee bowlers taking four for 41.

In reply, Nymagee were bowled out for 190.

The Nymagee batsmen all made starts but were unable to go on and made a big total, thanks mainly to tight bowling from Golf Club. Phil Harley top-scored for Nymagee with 59 runs while Jade Buckman and Matt Nicholson both scored 23 runs each.

Trent Robertson was the pick of the bowlers for Golf Club taking 3/22 while Pulock and  Brown took two wickets each. —contributed
