Allan Knight and Greg Read have finished as the 2025 Cobar Bowling & Golf Club Bowls Pairs Champions after playing a masterful final on Saturday at the Golfie.
The pair went head to head with Don Roberts and Kyle Roberts.
Both teams started well with just one point separating them by the 5th end.
Later Knight/Read managed to win four shots which Roberts countered with their own four shots win before Team Knight claimed yet another four shots advantage!
Very rarely in a match of this calibre does any team score that many shots in one end.
It’s an indication of just how many good bowls were swiftly dealt with by both teams (aka masterfully knocked out of the way to gain the upper hand).
Halfway through the match Knight/Read’s lead increased to five points but that wasn’t for long as the Roberts duo claimed the mat for the next few ends to forge their way to be two shots in front!
The spectators knew it was going to be a fantastic display of precision bowling by the well recognised Club Champions, but it was better than they hoped!
On the second last end Team Knight grabbed the mat back and closed the gap to one shot the difference which meant they needed two shots to take the win.
They got their two shots and finished as Pairs Champions.
The absolute ‘Stand Out’ player on the greens was without a doubt Greg Read.
