A good roll up had 63 players from 15 towns around the district enjoying a fantastic time both on and off the course.
The going seemed a little tough for most players and the scores reflected how difficult the course can be for visitors and locals alike.
Cobar were lucky enough in their nominated RoseBowl teams selection (towns pick multiple teams of three players to find the best two nett scores out of the three before play begins) to win the trophy on home soil.
The best nominated Cobar team had Glenda Peebles, Sally Bannister and Wen Zhang come out on top with 146 nett.
The Scratch winner on the day was Mellissa Russell from Manilla Golf Club with 75 off the stick. Broken Hill’s Jenny Stephenson (who is affiliated with the Cobar club) was the runner-up on 78.
Jodie Stewart from Nyngan had a 73 nett to win the handicap division in A Grade while Chris Tilley from Warren was the runner-up on 74 nett. Janet Place won the front nine hole nett with 34 and Sue Ellen Taylor from Trundle was the back nine nett winner with 37.
Wen Zhang was the B Grade Scratch winner with 93 while Sandra Beetson from Nyngan was runner- up on 97.
Deanna Stephens from Nyngan won the B Grade handicap section with 70 nett and Robynne Morton was the runner-up with 72 nett. The front nine nett winner was Christine Trudgett from Warren with 33 and on the back nine, Anne Noble from West Wyalong had 35 1/2 nett.
Nyngan’s Annette Webster won the C Grade Scratch title (110) from Alison Morriss (also from Nyngan) who posted 111.
The nett winner was Wendy Robinson (Warren) with 78 nett while the runner-up was Deb Reko (79 nett) from Hillston.
Heather Lyall from Forbes won the C Grade front nine nett (33 1/2) and on the back nine. Narelle Sunderland from Trundle was victorious with 36 nett.
Nearest the Pin winners on the 15th hole in the three grades were Sandra Moore (Warren), Deanna Stephens and Heather Lyall.
The Longest Drive winners on the 9th hole were Michelle Owen (Tottenham) for A Grade, Christine Trudgett in B Grade and C Grader, Heather Lyall, who out drove the other two divisions!
Michelle Deppeler won the Stableford event with 34 points while Deb Matheson (Nyngan) was the runner up after having 33points.
The Bartlett Family award for the best nett local player was won by Wen Zhang (70) and Ann Dunn won the Vi McLaughlin award (on a countback) for the best local nett C Grade score.
Sandra Beetson won the Grandmother’s Award for the best nett score and was also the Pam Salver recipient from Western Districts for the best nett score of the field with 68.
Jenny Stephenson won the Vets prize with 72 nett (after a countback).
The novelty pairs prizes were won by Deanna Stephens and Sandra Beetson.
A tight finish in Saturday’s Aurelia sponsored American game had Jannine Wilkin and Wan Sipatsa win the day with 70 nett.
In second place, on the narrowest of margins, were Robynne Morton and Michelle Owen (71 5/8) from Mellissa Russell and Anita Medcalf (Parkes) on 71 7/8 nett.
Nearest the Pin winning teams were Jenny Hoy and Jacqueline Charlton (both from Parkes) on the 3rd hole, West Wyalong’s Suzanne Smith and Rosemary Rossiter on the 7th, Jenny Stephenson and Karen Warren on both the 8th and 11th holes and Warren ladies Rhonda Darcy and Christine Trudgett won the 15th hole.
After Saturday’s event golfers enjoyed a ‘Christmas in July’ themed beautiful dinner by by Demi Smith and music by John Peebles.
