The Cobar Camels Rugby Union Club elected a committee full of new and old faces at the club’s annual general meeting on Sunday.
Taking on the president’s role to lead the club into the new 2022 season is a relatively new face, Sean Bayliss who coached the ladies team this year.
Bayliss said he became a rugby union con-vert at age 12 at Farrer High School and has played rugby on and off for the past 22 years, “anywhere in the forwards”.
After a stint with the Mudgee Wombats, Bayliss joined the Cobar club in 2020 with the intention of playing however Cobar didn’t field a side last season. He did play a few games for the Camels this season before being side-lined with an injury but continued to coach.
Bayliss takes over the president’s job from Robert ‘Bot’ Neale who has moved into a coaching role for the upcoming season.
Joining Bayliss on the executive committee is returning vice president, Stephen Gillette and 2021 Camels Co-Coach, Tony Jacklin, who will act as the second vice president.
Cairo Haronga was returned as secretary with Jimmi Allen elected as the assistant secre-tary and Nikki Gilbert was welcomed as the club’s new treasurer.
The meeting had a very good turn out and, in addition to eight other committee positions being filled, another eight players, former play-ers and players’ partners were elected to the general committee.
Returning coaches Jacklin and Bayliss will be joined also by Gillette, Travis Schintler and Tiffany Temminck.
As part of the meeting, a minute’s silence was observed in respect for one of the club’s supporters, Ethan Black, who recently passed away.
