Bayer Neverlosen still unbeaten

Bayer Neverlosen continued their winning ways defeating Wii Not Fit 10-4 in the Mixed Indoor Soccer competition last Wednesday night at the youth centre.

Neverlosen dominated possession early in the match but were unable to penetrate Wii Not Fit’s goal thanks largely to some great goal keeping from Jay Coburn.

Following a period of substitutions and, with the game opening up, Neverlosen started to find the back of the net.

Goals either side of the half time break by Kathleen Hardie brought Wii Not Fit right back into the game with the score at 4-5.

However Neverlosen went on to score another four unanswered goals to win the match.

Goal scorers for Neverlosen were Dan Howard (5) while Jade Buckman, Rami Ghattas, Dylan Menadue and Hannah Young all scored one goal each.

M&C Parisi Floorboards continued their unbeaten run in the competition last week defeating Cobar Hotshots 6-0.

Excluding the top two teams on the competition table (Neverlosen and Floorboards), Hotshots has the next best defensive record of the remaining teams in the competition despite currently sitting in 5th place. That style of play was again on display on Wednesday night as they held Floorboards, a team which averages 10 goals a game, to only scoring one goal in the first half. However the relentless pressure from the Floorboards’ juggernaut proved too much with Shannon Purton and Marc Cummins scoring two goals each to seal the win for M&C Parisi Floorboards.

The last game of the night between Endeavor and Chain Reaction was a tight contest with Chain Reaction finishing as the winner.

The win elevated Chain Reaction from 5th place to 3rd on the competition table.

It was Endeavor though who opened the scoring through striker John Sipendi.

Sipendi would score again later in the match for Endeavor but it was Chain Reaction who were leading at the break (3-2) thanks to two goals from Tadgh Waugh and one from Scott Brown.

Chain Reaction’s new recruit Sarah Barber broke Endeavor’s heart in the second half with two goals (4 points, female goals are worth two points).

Chain Reaction went on to eventually win 7-3 with Suarabh Anand scoring a consolation goal for Endeavor.—contributed
