It was a big weekend of celebrations at the Golfie for John and Karen Daly who not only scored a few wins on the bowling greens but also celebrated a wedding anniversary and birthday.
John joined Brad Beetson to record a win in the Men’s Pairs Championships game on Saturday when they upset the previous title holders, Bian Smith and Tony Brown, 23-16.
Then on Sunday John finished with another win in the Singles Championships finishing with a great come-from-behind victory over Bian Smith, 31–28.
At one stage Daly had been 16 shots behind.
In another Singles Championships game played on Sunday, Jim Goonrey was victorious against Greg Fraser, 32-22, in a hard fought match.
There was also a Pairs Championships match played with Don Roberts and Scott Toomey defeating Barry Bargwanna and David Thomas, 26-12.
The Sunday social bowls winning spoils went to Gerard Livingston, Dave Knight and birthday girl Karen Daly who finished with a +14 score from runners-up Daniel Holt, Helen Boddy and Frank Singleton on +13.
