The David Peachey and Russell Richardson football gala day was held in Cobar last Wednesday.
Cobar hosted the Peachey Shield (Year 5 and 6) and Richardson Cup (Years 3 and 4) matches at Ward Oval.
The St John’s School Year 5/6 team won their three pool games against Nyngan Public School, Bourke Public School and Cobar Public School.
They then went on to meet their long-time rivals in this annual competition, the St Joseph’s Nyngan team, with Nyngan eventually coming out on top.
St John’s team coach Rob Josephson said his boys “played their hearts out” and showed great skill and determination throughout the match as well as demonstrating good teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership skills to represent their school with pride.
