Nymagee secured an eight wicket victory over Golf Club at Nymagee in the Senior Cricket 40 Overs competition on Saturday.
A brilliant knock of 129 runs from Golf Club’s Robert Childs was later flaunted by a score of 108 not out from Mitch Holt that eventually guided Nymagee to victory.
Earlier, Golf Club had won the toss and elected to bat first.
With the score at 6/79 in the 16th over, the Golf Club team was looking to be in real trouble.
It was then that Robert Childs was joined at the crease by Anthony Robertson.
With Childs farming the strike (as the best batsman), he and Robertson shared in a 149 run partnership, of which Childs scored 113 of the runs.
They took the score along to 229 before Childs was finally dismissed for a well deserved 129 runs.
Golf Club was bowled out shortly after for a total of 242 runs.
Jack Fazulla (30), Scott Toomey (29) and Robertson (23 no) also made contributions to Golf Club’s score.
Mitch Holt was the pick of the Nymagee bowlers taking three wickets for 39.
Jade Buckman took 2/20 and Phil Harley contributed with 2/60.
In reply, Nymagee chased down the required total in the 34th over with eight wickets remaining.
Nymagee openers Holt and Roger Mitchell put on 97 runs before Mitchell was dismissed for 47.
Then Matt Dillon fell for a duck with the score on 98.
Buckman joined Holt at the crease and the pair put on a 147 run partnership to chase down the target.
Holt finished with 108 not out and Buckman was 57 not out.
Will Whitton and Childs each took a wicket for Golf Club.
