Hundreds from Robbie Mitchell (104) and Jay Egan (100) led their Empire team to a 250 run win over Golf Club in the senior cricket 40 Overs competition at Ward Oval on Saturday.
Golf Club won the toss and sent Empire in to bat and it was a decision they would later regret as Empire went on to score 307 runs for the loss of just seven wickets from their 40 overs.
Opening the batting, Egan took to the Golf Club bowlers with a vengeance and brought up his 100 in the 23rd over, hitting 16 fours and 2 sixers.
Egan was however later upstaged by his Empire captain Robbie Mitchell.
Mitchell came to the crease in the 19th over and proceeded to destroy the bowling attack.
Mitchell belted 11 fours and 7 sixers with his 7th six bringing up his 100, before he was later dismissed for 104.
The best of the bowlers for the Golf Club team were Chris Robinson who took three for 57 and Josh Brown had figures of 2/31.
In reply, Golf Club was bowled out in the 17th over for just 57 runs.
The only resistance from Golf Club came from Chris Robinson, who scored 27 runs. The next best was nine runs from Scott Leedham.
Evan Rice returned the best bowling figures for Empire taking 5/23 from four overs.
Chris Gilbert contributed 2/2 from his bowling spell to seal an emphatic victory.—contributed
