The local cricket competition was packed with Twenty/20 fixtures over the weekend.
On Friday night Hombres got the win over CSA while in Saturday’s doubleheader Golfie beat Peak and Bushies won against Smashers.
After being in early trouble on Friday night, Hombres were then led to victory with a knock of 52 runs from Chris Gilbert.
Earlier in the evening, Hombres had bowled Peak out for 72 runs. Joe Regan top scored with 19 in an innings that featured three golden ducks.
Ben McBride was the best of Hombres’ bowlers taking three wickets for just 20 runs.
In reply, after 16 overs Hombres’ tally was 6/67. Gilbert, batting 6th, was the only batsman to make double figures, and he did it in style blasting a score of 52 not out that included 6 fours and 2 sixers.
The next highest scorer was Ben McBride with six runs. Hombres passed the required total in the 18th over and finished with 8/103 from their 20 overs.
In Saturday’s first doubleheader beginning in the heat at 3.30pm, Golfie chased down Peak’s first innings target of 106 runs for the win.
Peak struggled to get a team and required fill-in players to take the field.
Josh Brown top scored for Peak with 27 runs, Matt Dillon added 26 and Ben Griffith 16.
Trent Robinson (2/17) and Jack Fazulla (2/25) returned the best bowling figures for Golfie.
In reply, Golfie passed the required total of 106 in the 13th over.
Craig Youd belted 64 runs and he was supported by Archie McMaster with 29 runs.
In the late game played under lights, inform batsman Jade Buckman helped Bushies chase down the required target of 72 set earlier by Smashers.
Clay Neale top scored for Smashers with 23 runs and Dave Mevison added 12.
Stewart Fraser was the best of the Bushies bowlers taking 3/1 from four overs.
In reply, Bushies passed the required target in the 11th over and continued on batting out the 20 overs to finished with 4/149. Buckman top scored with 50 n.o., Stewart Fraser made 44 and Alec Fraser contributed 41.
