A new Indoor Soccer Summer Competition kicks off tonight at the youth centre and is shaping up to be an exciting season.
The competition has expanded from four teams last season to six teams this season.
The teams returning from last season are: M&C Parisi Floorboards, Endeavor, Teachers 1 and Teachers 2 and they will be joined by new teams Bayer Neverlosen and Chain Reaction.
The defending champions, M&C Parisi Floorboards, will once again be heavily backed favourites heading into the new competition.
They have held onto their key players during the offseason and also recruited a “big name player” Wade Potter who will add extra striking power to the team.
Endeavor’s new captain Dainel Ng has been busy in the offseason recruiting players after the nucleus of the team parted ways.
Gone are Jade Buckman, Patrick Mukwindidza and Jimmy Suroto and in come Carl Rieck and Saurabh Anand.
Sources have it that the Teachers 1 and Teachers 2 sides have been trading players in the offseason.
To date they have kept everyone guessing of each team roster as they are yet to complete the team nomination form. Will they strengthen one team or will they keep them even?
The title is potentially one move away.
Bayer Neverlosen, led by Jade Buckman, are an assembled team of ex-players and new young players.
Returning to the court are Daniel Howard, James Anderson and Hannah Young while Dylan Menadue and David Atuau will come into the side play their first indoor season.
John Williams will lead the other new team this season, Chain Reaction.
Williams has assembled a solid team which will grow from strength to strength as they get accustomed to the fast flowing game.
The competition commences tonight and will be played in three time slots.
Back this season is also the All Star male and female games which will be contested mid way through the competition.
The season will finish in late November.—contributed
