The future of Cobar’s historic Town Hall is expected to be the centre of discussion when Cobar Shire Council meets for its July Ordinary Meeting tomorrow.
The Cobar Town Hall Feasibility Report will be presented to tomorrow’s Council meeting, with councillors set to consider the findings and determine the next steps for the landmark building.
The report follows earlier work on the Town Hall Master Plan and Business Case as well as the outcomes of public meetings which are expected to help guide Council’s long-term plans for the site.
Also at tomorrow’s meeting, Councillors will discuss a report from the General Manager Peter Vlatko questioning the value of Council’s future membership of the Association of Mining and Energy Related Councils (MERC).
(Cobar Shire is a long-standing member of the MERC and was instrumental in initially setting up this group.)
Other agenda items include: the quarterly review of Council’s Annual Operational Plan, with an update on the progress of projects and services delivered during the 2025-2026 financial year; a report on the shire’s road network outlining spending on shire, regional, capital and flood restoration road works; a number of governance and operational reports; and updates from Council staff.
The General Manager’s Performance Review will also be considered at tomorrow’s meeting in Closed Council as per Section 10A (2)(a) of the Local Government Act 1993
