
Cobar Junior Soccer Club players enjoyed another busy morning of action on Saturday at Ward Oval with plenty of goals scored in all grades.
In their Mids division game last week, the Tigers and Black Knights played out a 5-all draw.
Leo Neale and Davey McKay scored two goals each for the Tigers and Nate Sullivan added their other.
Max Preisig found the back of the net four times for his Black Knights team and Lincoln Griffiths accounted for their other goal.
The other Mids match was also a close game with Redbacks just beating Polar Bears 2-1.
Redbacks’ goals came from the boots of Archie Fugar and Brayden Mukarati while Polar Bears’ lone point was scored by Hudson Neale.
The Mids Gumnut Milkshake award winners of the week were Nora Palma and Hunter Compton.
Marley Ryan and Harrison McBride collected the Cobar Hot Bake Donut Awards and Sonny Ryan and Noah Seymour won the Shell Slushie prizes.
In the Minis competition, great sportsmanship was on display when some players swapped teams to help even up the contest between the Sky Strikers and Busy Bees.
Busy Bees finished with an 8-5 victory.
For Busy Bees, Kaiden Hamilton slipped five shots past the goalie and team mate Angus Coffey kicked three before he changed sides mid-game and also kick four goals for the Sky Strikers. Remi Quintal booted in Sky Strikers’ other goal.
It was a close match between Pitch Pirates and Maroon Miners in their Minis game with Pitch Pirates eventually finishing with a 5-4 win.
Pitch Pirates’ points came from Dante Mamhunze (3), Jax Van Dam and Lucy Mainey while Hunter Hounsell (2), Zariah Sariman and Malia Sariman were responsible for Maroon Miners’ goals.
In the other Minis match, Cornish Dragons just beat Raging Rhinos, 2-1.
William Brown and Spencer Fugar found the back of the net for Cornish Dragons and Baxter Woods kicked the lone goal for Raging Rhinos.
The Minis Gumnut Milkshake award winners were Halle Egan, Dante Mamhunze and Nash Woods.
Max McKenna, Skylar Rendall and Elizabeth Brown collected the Cobar Hot Bake Donut Awards and Magnolia Cain, Edward McBride and Mason Brown earned the Shell Slushie Prizes.
The highest scoring match of the day was the Opens game with 15 goals recorded as Mill Rats edged out Rock Apes 8-7.
For Mill Rats, Ayush Yonzon netted three goals, Prajwal ‘PK’ Kharel booted two, and Mark McBride and Graham Manuaii kicked one each (along with an own goal).
Rock Apes’ points come from the boots of Ravi Phuyal (3), Isaac Theakston, Parker Cryer, Joseph Theakston and Charles Mamhunze.
Ravi Phuyal received the Gumnut Milkshake Award, Jacob Theakston collected the Cobar Hot Bake Donut Prize and Paul Theakston took home the Shell Slushie Award.
The Seniors game finished with Celtic FC beating Miami FC, 7-1.
Three goals were kicked for Celtics by Cooper Suridge and Joseph Theakston, Edwin Palma, Ralph Behsman and Jeremiah McMillan also scored a goal each to help Celtics to their win.
Charles Mamhunze netted Miami FC’s lone goal.
For the Seniors, Xavier Foster took home the Gumnuts Milkshake Award, Cooper Suridge earned the Cobar Hot Bake Donut Prize and Ashlee Compton collected the Shell Slushie Award.
