Under 6s and Under 8s join in the fun at Gilgandra

Six Cobar Junior Rugby League teams took on their Gilgandra counterparts on Saturday in Gilgandra for Round 3 of the Castlereagh juniors competition.

The Under 6s and Under 8s side had a run this week alongside the Under 10s, Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 16s teams.

The Under 16s girls League Tag side had a bye this week.

The Under 6s League Tag team played two games as Gilgandra had two sides in this age group.

Noah Coddington, Arrow Kilpatrick, Baxter Woods and Charlie Gibbs collected the Coach’s encouragement awards.

In the Under 8s tackle game, Ali Taylor and Mason Hill earned the Roosters awards.

In the Under 10s uncontested match, tries for the Roosters were scored by Darcy Geppert (4), Lucas Davey (2), Kye Robinson, Levi Prince and Harlan Mahaffey.

The Coaches Awards went to Bailey Robinson and Oliver Tranter and the Best & Fairest points were earned by Levi Prince, Darcy Geppert and Heath Gibbs.

The Cobar U12s tackle team also played two uncontested games against two Gilgandra sides.

Tries for Cobar were scored by Keelan Atuau (4), Josh McMillan (2), Indie Burke and Callum Bennett.

Maddox Best and Tom Geppert earned the Coaches Awards.

Best & Fairest Points were shared by Josh McMillan, Indie Burke and AJ Fakahua.

In their Under 14s game, Cobar finished with a 42-20 loss in a high scoring match.

Cobar’s try scorers were Austin Kane (2)  Billy Watt and Alfie Toomey.

Austin also landed two conversions.

The Coaches Award went to Hugo Josephson while Alfie was named their Players’ Player.

Alfie also shared in their Best & Fairest points with Austin and Judd Josephson.

The Roosters Under 16s were beaten by Gilgandra 44-16 in their match.

Cobar’s try scorers were Rowdy Barton, Josh Francisco and Lachlan Brookman.

Rowdy added the extras with two successful conversions.

The Coaches Award went to Corey Piggot and Takai Cantrell was named their Players’ Player.

Best & Fairest Points were earned by Lachlan, Rowdy and Aiden Hyland.

The juniors are at home for Round 4 this Saturday against Gulgong and will play two of their matches prior to the seniors games at Tom Knight Memorial Oval while the three Round 4 games will be contested at the Ward Oval fields.
