
Cobar cricketer, Nichola Harbison, was a member of the Western Outlaws team which won the Southern pool of the Country Cricket NSW Plan B Women’s Country Championships in Goulburn/Crookwell over the weekend.
Eight teams competed in the popular regional short-format competition which featured two days of T20 cricketing action at Goulburn/Crookwell (Southern) and the Central Coast (Northern).
The Western team won all three games in the Southern competition and will now play the Central Coast (who were winners of the Northern pool).
The final will to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground at a date yet to be decided.
In their Round 1 match against the favoured Riverina Bullets (who were looking for a ‘three-peat’ in the competition), Western Outlaws ran down Riverina’s 1st innings target of 112 in 17.3 overs to win the match.
Nicola featured in the bowling attack taking 1/19.
In their Round 2 match, Western Outlaws exceeded Southern Spirit’s first innings total of 129, to claim a thrilling win in the final over.
Western Outlaws then went on to record a 28-run win over the Illawarra Flames in the final with Nichola taking two wickets for 15 runs and finishing with two not out at the crease.
Over the weekend players were also being looked at for spots in the Bush Breakers squad for the Toyota Australian Country Championships to be played in Newcastle in January.
